Description

Since I haven't had much experience with environments, I decided to try my hand with a painting relying mostly on setting rather than figures. Hoping to do more such pieces to gain confidence and experience in this area.

The title, Scyphozone, is from Scyphozoa, the class of invertebrates including jellyfish.

Very imaginative work Kerry. I enjoy the colors, composition, and various elements. The jellyfishes are way cool! I might have done more to indicate that we are underwater here such as bubbles or distortion.

Great job!

Michelle

I agree with Michelle, It feels like out in the air rather than under water. Then again, maybe it was supposed to be so? ;)

Superb art. Very well done!

I especially love the translucency of the jellyfish material, and the way the color shifts as light passes through it. Excellent work!

Fantastic! I love the colors. :) Maybe some bubbles would make it look more like it was under water.

Thanks for the comments, ladies and gents. To clear up any confusion (which is entirely my fault), it's not supposed to be underwater. Haven't you folks ever seen an air jellyfish? :p
Curlyhair: Those are some pretty swanky jellyfish. Guess I was beaten to the punch.

:) I hope you don't think this is my work. It's not my style - nor yours and in this case I honestly prefer yours. And I'll tell you why - yours looks more merrier to me,less neutral. You can not agree of course. But don't think I'm that polite for not to express honestly my preferences ^_-

Nice work. I love the colors. I think the thing in the bottom left corner is distracting though.

I really like this piece, and the scene is very well put together. The only thing I am lacking is some more depth -- it gets a little confusing somewhere in the lower-left middle of the picture. But that's essentially nitpicking. And I like the concept (it's not something you see everyday) and your palette, a lot.

Agree with Eilidh.

Still, this piece is so strong and original I don't even care if it is messy in some parts. Top marks for you.
