Description

First part of a mini series in which I try to portray strong female protagonists that defy fantasy and sci-fi norms. Will I be successful? Tune in next time to find out. Rest assured I shall venture beyond the warrior trope (but, hey, it seemed like a fun place to start, and it is a genre staple)

So, PS CS2 with a dash of Painter (gotta ease my way into that one). I won't post a full version, because it's pretty big (and we don't want to make print-size files available to the world, eh?), but there's a detail shot @ 25% down under, which I would encourage you to peep.

Things are getting hairy, what with the semester drawing to a close, so I've not had much time to comment, sadly. Still, your feedback is mucho welcome, as always. :)

Another great by you!Your imagination just don't stop surprising! Amazing work with colors. The monster - I laughed to myself when I called hem that - it looks too cute and not attacking..so the "defender" looks more like attacking...but considering unusual atmosphere I can accept that this thing is attacking in it's own weird way :p
The pose of a girl is a bi off - I think her left leg should be turned in the opposite direction a little to make her more stable there
Anyway it's a brilliant concept and lovely execution. Obviously deserve my ten as one of the most original and interesting works at this forum

Excellent stuff!

Great sense of depth and perspective

I do think the pose is a bit 'stiff';)

Thanks for the comments, guys! Curlyhair and Wallace, I did have a few folks posing for me, but I agree she is a little stiff (ah, that artistic bugbear haunts my ever effort to paint figures!). In my defense, archery tends to promote stiff poses... maybe? ;) I will have to revisit this in a little while once I can get a fresh perspective on it, and perhaps I'll be able to overcome that issue. In the mean time, gotta finish those final projects. Argh argh argh.

Looks great! The composition I have to say is very well done, one of the most dynamic I've seen in quite some time. No critiques on my part.

Yeah, I like the strong light and shadow effect the flare creates on the woman. Nice sense of depth! I may wish to see the flying beast a little brighter, as it isn't too easy to tell what it actually looks like since it is so dark, at least not on this computer. Still, this is good stuff. Keep it up! :)
